In the past few blogs, we have discussed decreasing toxins and cleansing our primary excretory organs as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. (see archive) So, now, let’s talk metabolism! After a proper cleanse, and reboot of our habits, we can kick start our metabolism so that it is optimally functioning. There are several ways to rev our internal engines. First, understand that fat does serve a purpose for humans. Some is okay. But too much affects many things such as internal body temperature, ability to store energy, and inappropriate padding for vital organs. So, what causes inappropriate fat storage to occur? 1) Eating more calories than necessary to sustain healthy life function 2) Lack of physical activity to burn free and stored energy 3) Too much stress and not enough rest (sleep not lounging) 4) Toxic stressors that promote fat storage Now, ask yourself if you: • eat too much? • exercise too little? • are under too much stress? • are under toxic load? • have an abnormal health issue? If you answered ‘yes’ to these, you probably need to cleanse regularly, limit toxins, exercise 3-5 times a week, and better support your metabolic system. Revving your engine
There are many ways to get your metabolism going after a proper cleanse. The Rustic Apothecary can develop a full plan for you but to start, you will want to • get rid of impurities (cleanse) • maintain proper nutritional supplementation (vitamin supplements) • Add more cinnamon, peppermint, lemon, grapefruit, and ginger to your diet (great natural alternative to the typical diet pills found on the market) Using natural products such as those in herbal and oil form is the optimal way to support your metabolism. These natural plants and herbs will support your body to appropriately utilize food eaten as well as better understand how to properly store the correct amount of fat tissue. Make good choices No matter how you choose to jump start your body’s internal engine, remember to steer clear of unneeded fillers, processed foods, and harsh chemicals. Remember, set an example for your kids, your co-workers, your friends. Make good choices and your body will reward you! After all, a clogged up, heavy, toxin ridden body does not service the soul well. Let's Talk Metabolism! A. Harding, RN 1.12.16
