For centuries, science has studied the affects of music on one's mind, spirit, emotions, and soul. We all have songs we turn up to evoke a feeling, a memory - whether its saddening or joyous. Some of us have music to motivate things like exercise, work, play, and romance. Others, myself included, have songs that help us fight physically and emotionally for our desires, physical health, ask God for guidance... you get the idea... Here is what Meghan Walker, vocalist and bass player for the Redhead Express says about music in her soul!!! - Angela There’s a song that’s inside of me, and not just some lighthearted melody, or a half-baked tune. It’s a piece; many pieces, actually. Every day I listen and hear a new one beginning to form. Sometimes it’s sweet, slow, when other times it rushes in like the autumn wind, startling and shaking the other pieces in its’ wake. Other days yet another segment rolls in, filled with tones of hope, longing, even sadness. Then slowly, they come together. Yes, they’re nothing alike, these pieces, these unfinished melodies; they couldn’t be more different, in fact. But somehow, only the Lord knows how, they fit together. They join each other, ringing in perfect harmony, and become a song. My song. When I’m happy, I hum the sweet notes. In times of sadness, its’ solemn tones console and caress me. Through many long, lonely days, just the mere existence of it has offered such comforting company as one could only wish for. It gives assurance when I am unsure, strength when I am weak. It inspires me to reach higher, to run further, to look deeper, and to love with everything I have; with everything I am. You see, as I said, it’s not just some pretty tune, not even just a “good song”. It’s something words can’t express, nor can the ears of the flesh hear it. It’s part of me; it is me. It’s the song of my soul. And you have one, too, so sing it! - Meghan
